Cookies and your choices

The portfolio does not load advertising or analytics trackers. The initial privacy banner lets you choose essential site functionality only, or enable the optional AI assistant. Your choice is saved on your device in local storage under paolo-privacy-v1, with a timestamp. It is checked for up to 180 days, after which the site asks again. If browser storage is unavailable, the choice applies only to the current page session.

The preference is not an advertising identifier. Interactive visualizations and article filters work locally in your browser; their pointer movements and search queries are not sent to a tracking service. Fonts and portfolio images are served with the site.

The optional personal AI

No question is sent to an AI provider just because you visit or open the assistant. Once you enable it and send a question, your message and a limited recent conversation history are sent through this website’s server to Google Gemini, together with Paolo’s published professional profile and project information.

The application does not write chat transcripts to a database or browser storage. The displayed conversation remains in the current page’s memory until you clear it, disable the assistant, or reload. Clearing the chat does not delete information already processed by Google or a hosting provider. Google’s processing and retention depend on the configured account, service, and applicable terms; review the Gemini API terms before sharing information.

Please do not send confidential business data, credentials, health information, or other sensitive information. The assistant is AI-generated, can make mistakes, and cannot book appointments or make commitments on Paolo’s behalf. Confirm important details directly.

You can disable future AI requests through Cookie preferences and select Essential only. Doing so cancels an in-progress browser request and clears the on-page conversation; it cannot retract data already sent to a provider.

Booking and direct enquiries

When configured, booking buttons open Paolo’s external booking page, such as Calendly, in a new tab. No Calendly script or iframe is embedded, and no scheduling page is loaded automatically. The booking service has its own privacy practices. Without a configured booking link, a local booking-status page explains that the calendar is not connected. Booking buttons never create an email draft.

The project and contractor enquiry form prepares an email draft in your own email application. It does not submit or store the form on this website’s server. You must review and send it yourself. Sent emails are processed by the email services used by you and the recipient.

Technical requests

The hosting provider may process request information, including IP addresses, for delivery, security, and operational logs. The chat endpoint uses temporary, in-memory request counters keyed by a hash of the reported client IP address to limit abuse. Counters are not used for advertising or stored as a visitor profile.
